What's New
January 29, 2008 -   Just a report that the Somerset Show
was really great and I really enjoyed meeting up with so many owners of Godfrey reels as well as a
bunch new faces. One sad note is that I will not be at the DC TU show end of March as I now
have an obligation elsewhere at the time.
Expect to have pics of the reinvented BiMetal reel
on site very soon, took a couple orders at Somerset off the sample
Model - 35 that I had there. Rod building efforts increase now
and I look forward to reinventing some tapers I liked back in the
60's when I was busy building then as well as some new designs that
are just on paper.
December 3, 2007 -   Just a notice of price increases
in January 2008: There will be a small increase in price for the Classic, Westminster, and
Brown Trout Reel models. BUT, there will be increases of aprox. $200.00 for the "high end" trout reels and
a larger, $400.00 increase for the Spey Salmon reels. These last reels have been a borden in
time and tedium over the years so better to increase prices I guess rather than
drop models as done in the past.
October 24, 2007 -
Another long awaited reel, the Paladin is now up on the web page and available in
very limited quantity. It is somewhat heavier than other reels currently available, but in the
aluminum side version still a good balance for longer rods or most any cane rod. This is a premium,
geared retrieve, custom reel -- 5 years in the design phase.
Other Reels and of course the long awaited cane
rods are in the works with the reels coming out toward the end of this year and the rods . . . well,
we'll see.
February 26, 2007 -
The NCC TU Show went extremely well and everyone from vendors to the thousand or so visitors were
quite impressed with the operation and layout of this show. I enjoyed talking to everyone and delivered
the second Perfectionist made to Mr. Dave Wolfe of Pa.
The long awaited Perfectionist reel is now up on the web page and available to order.
It is somewhat heavier than other reels currently available, but still a good balance for longer
rods or most any cane rod. It is a reel that I like very much, it just seems very pleasing to
see and hold and of course mount on a special rod. The frame and internal mechanism are time
consuming to make so the price is "up there" as they say.
January 14, 2007 -
Due to family obligations, I will only be attending one local show in 2007. Saturday, February
24, the National Capital Trout Unlimited Chapter will have its annual show, but this year it is
somewhat larger and it has moved to Bethesda Chevy Chase High School. Hope to see anyone living
in the Maryland, Virginia, and southern Pa. area at this show. Lefty Krey will be the special
attraction as well as an expanded display area and more seminars.
See: http://www.ncc-tu.org/ for more information.
Dealer, Jeff Wagner will be providing a selection of Godfrey reels at the Somerset
show this year so please drop by his booth both for the reels and for his cane rods. He is one of
a small hand full of current great cane makers!
